AETF European Championships Update

AETF European Championships Update

Please see the following update regarding the ITF Ireland National Taekwon-Do Team’s preparation for the upcoming AETF European Championships issued today by Mr. Kevin Hannigan, Director of Coaching, ITF Ireland:

Dear All,
I hope that you are all well and looking forward to the INTA Open next weekend.  As it is now only eight weeks until the European Championships, I wanted to update you on a few things.

Venues for Squad Sessions
The venues for the remainder of squad sessions between now and the European Championships are as follows:

27/28 March - Dublin
10/11 April - Mid West
18 April - Cork
25 April - Dublin

We will confirm the exact venue for each session as soon as we have the details.  In addition to these dates, any competitors selected for team pattern events should be available for supplementary sessions.  At a minimum, these will be scheduled for Saturday 17 and 25 April but there may be further sessions.

All junior members should also be available for three days of training at the start of the Easter holidays, 29 - 31 March.  These sessions will take place in Mr Cooley's centre in Ashbourne.  We are currently sourcing low cost accommodation for these days in order to minimise costs.  We will confirm with all junior competitors no later than 17 March whether or not they are required to attend these sessions.

The total cost for the final three squad sessions is €45.  This is payable on 10/11 April.

Costs:
If you wish to be considered for selection for the European Championships and have yet to pay your deposit (€250) or squad training fee (€75), this must be sent directly to Mr Carberry no later than Thursday 11 March.  Please ensure you include your competitor application form and signed competitor agreement.

Mr Carberry's address is:

Liam Carberry
40 Alden Park
Sutton
Dublin 13

The next deposit of €300 will be payable on 27/28 March.  We will only request payment of this deposit if you are selected for the European Championships.

Tracksuits:
We will be ordering tracksuits over the coming weeks for any competitors new to the squad.  The cost of the personalised tracksuit, t-shirts and kit bag is €140.  The tracksuit is mandatory for anybody travelling to Sweden but any member of the squad may order one even if you are not travelling.  If you wish to do so, please let Mr. Carberry know by e-mail by Friday 12 March liamcarberryfps@eircom.net

Supporters/Parents:
If you are travelling to Sweden and wish us to book accommodation for you, please contact Mr Carberry directly.  As all deposits for accommodation need to be paid next weekend, you must also send on a deposit of €250 to cover the cost of the accommodation.  As with competitor deposits, this should reach Mr Carberry no later than Thursday 11 March.  If you are still unsure whether or not you are travelling, or wish to organise your own accommodation, we can put you in touch with the Organising Committee closer to the time.

Fundraising:
In order to minimise costs to competitors, we will be running a series of fundraising nights during the coming weeks.  The fundraising nights will be timed to coincide with squad training weekends and will take place in the Mid West, Cork and Dublin.  More details will follow over the next few weeks.  All funds raised will be pooled amongst all competitors.

If you have any questions on any of this, please feel free to contact me by phone or email.

Yours in Taekwon-Do
