The ITF Ireland National team is seeking applications for the positions of Coach and Assistant Coach. 
 
Coach Role:
The role of National Team Coach incorporates a wide range of duties and responsibilities culminating in the coaching of our international athletes at ringside during World and European Championships. The Coach will also:
  • Be the main point of contact for a group of approximately 10 squad members, their parents (Juniors) and personal coaches
  • Agree training and competition goals with athletes
  • Work with the Head Coach to design the overall training programme
  • Make the programme specific to each athlete under their supervision
  • Review athlete training diaries on a weekly basis
  • Review athlete nutritional logs periodically
  • Update athletes, personal coaches (and parents) on progress
  • Coordinate injury management with athletes and medical personnel
  • Coordinate tactical review of sparring video
  • Liaise with personal coaches on how to bring about improvement in their athlete
Assistant Coach Role:
The role of Assistant Coach to the National Team is a more limited position relative to the responsibilities and accountability of the coach. The assistant coach will:
  • Conduct training sessions under the supervision of the National Team Coaches
  • Provide One to One training for designated athletes in specific areas
  • Provide specialist support in preferred disciplines
  • Be the most likely replacement if a Coach cannot travel to a championships

Application form

Minimum Requirements:
  • The positions are open to Black belts who are 18 years of age or older
  • EU area passport
  • Must be a member in good standing of ITA or INTA
  • Willingness to commit to the training programme
 
Desirable:
  • Previous coaching experience with National Team or international competitors
  • Coaching qualification or other related qualification
  • Competitive experience at international level
  • Basic competency with IT (email, Skype, Facebook, Google Drive, Youtube)
  • Ability to coach to highest level in multiple disciplines
  • Senior Dan grades are preferred (for coaching of pattern)
Both roles will initially be for a duration of 10 months, to include the World Championships in October and subsequent debrief. The roles may be extended by mutual consent at this time. 
 
All applications should be sent using the forms provided to Adrian Byrne (Head Coach) and copied to Mr Stephen Ryan and Ms Amy Jane Troy (secretaries general of ITA and INTA) no later than Friday 11th January at 4pm. 
 
Interviews will take place for suitably qualified candidates on Sunday 13th January in the Horse and Jockey Hotel, Thurles in the afternoon/evening (exact time to be confirmed after the application deadline).
