Dylan Fitzgibbon Receives Sports Award

April 2011 saw the International Airport Hotel and Gerald Mc Carthy sponsored  south side and district sports awards dinner in Cork.

Nominee and winner Dylan Fitzgibbon was invited and presented with a silver plaque by the manager of the International Airport Hotel for his achievements particularly pertaining to the retention of his world title last month. Dylan is no stranger to this award having won it in January 2010 and narrowly missing out on the sports award of the year for last year.

Accompanying Dylan was his family including parents Pat and Christine, brother, John, grandparents, Cousins, aunts and uncles and representatives from his school.Mr Leahy represented Turners Cross Taekwon-Do Academy and was asked to say a few words about Dylan and his achievements thus far.

A lot of serious comments , funny stories and a few hints about school brought Dylan to the ground very quickly and he was no stranger to speeches himself thanking everyone from his parents ,Instructor, his training partners to his teachers and everybody who has supported him to date.

The Lord Mayor of Cork took time out of his busy schedule to travel up to the International Airport Hotel along with his wife to congratulate Dylan on his tremendous achievement and though he was busy organising plans for the Queen’s visit to Cork in May felt it was right and appropriate that he should leave that meeting to honour one of Ireland elite athletes and ambassadors.

All the members of Turners Cross Taekwon-Do Academy would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Dylan Fitzgibbon on a justified award once again.
