Examiners Conference Report

Examiners Conference Report

On Sunday the 29th of May 2011, twenty ITA examiners, 4th - 7th Dan gathered in Murrintown Co. Wexford for the 1st ITA Examiners Conference. The day started with all the examiners in dobok and training together on the higher black belt patterns up to Tong-Il. This was an enjoyable session as it  is not often that so many of the ITA senior Dan Grades get the opportunity to get together for a training session. Following the morning training session there was a meeting about the black belt testing, with many issues up for discussion including; the standard for black belt gradings, what is the black belt a measure of?, Requirements for different aspects of the Dan grading test and how to mark them, the Dan grade syllabus, criteria for being an examiner, criteria for hosting a black belt testing etc. This was a very productive meeting and the decisions made will go a long way to further improving the ITA Black Belt test. Following lunch their was a practical traing session on the upgraded software for scoring the ITA black belt grading. The ITA examiner is now able to mark the entire grading and give feedback electronically, making the whole system more professional and transparent.
