ITA Annual General Meeting 2016
The Annual General Meeting of the Irish Taekwon-Do Association took place in the Horse & Jockey Hotel, Co. Tipperary on Sunday 17th January. The AGM opened with a review of 2015, a very successful year on all fronts for Irish Taekwon-Do. Among the topics discussed on the day were the ITA's hosting of an ITF international umpire course in 2016 and the ITF World Championship in 2017.
During theAGM it was announced that two new committees have been appointed to help ensure the future growth & inclusiveness of the ITA. The Expansion and Merger Committee will comprise: Mr Mark Buckley VI Dan, Master Paul Delea VII Dan, Master Tim Forde VII Dan, Mr Ken Leahy VI Dan and Mr. Niall Jones VI Dan, while the Special Needs & Inclusion committee will comprise; Master Pat Barry VII Dan, Master Tim Forde VII Dan, Mrs. Laura Ryan IV Dan and Mr. Rodney Connolly III Dan. We are looking forward these two committees having a very active role in our development.
The 2016 Board of Directors elected by the ITA membership was Master Kenneth Wheatley (President), Mr Mark Buckley (Vice-President), Mr Stephen Ryan (Secretary General), & Mr Kevin Kinsella (Treasurer), Mr Adrian Byrne, Mr Carl Smullen, Master Pat Barry and Master Adrian O'Mahoney
Mr Stephen Cooley decided not to seek re-election to the board of directors this year. Mr Cooley will focus his efforts on the national team and to coach education as a tutor coach for our association. The ITA board of directors would like to thank Mr. Stephen Cooley for his many years of hard work on the board of ITA. Mr. Cooley has been a driving force for Irish TKD and helping in getting us where we are today.
