The tournament was made up of 621 competitors from Ireland, Norway, Scotland, Canada, Czech Republic and Italy. The tournament began on Saturday with competitors aged 14 – 17 and seniors competing across 6 rings in patterns, sparring, special technique and power-test. The sparring sections where run on a pool & requalification system, meaning each competitor had a number of rounds, after they were eliminated from the main draw they entered another draw where they competed for bronze. The standard of competition was very high, with many top level athletes taking part in each division, it made for an excellent tournament that was very entertaining for spectators and all involved.
