ITA Members attend IIC Italy
The 62nd International Instructor's course took place in Riccione, Italy last weekend and was attended by over 120 participants. The course was attended by Mr Peter Crosbie 4th Dan (ITA-Celbridge). The seminar commenced in unusal circumstances with the arrival of Grandmaster Bos on crutches. GM Bos had unfortunately injured himself in a motorbike accident and was unable to conduct the course. As a result Grandmaster Ung of Germany took over the reigns and provided a vast knowledge of expertise covering areas of patterns, sparring and particualrly self defence. Day 1 started with Grandmaster Marano and Grandmaster Tratenberg covering patterns up to Hwa rang before the session broke for evening meals. Day 2 started with the funny sight of Grandmaster Bos arriving once again on crutches only to lift his injured leg straight up over his head as if he felt no pain in the leg. He routinely did this throughout the seminar. This set the tone for the entire weekend as Grandmater Bos gave us a reminder of his indomitable spirit with regard to training whilst injured. 1 Step, 2 Step and 3 Step were all covered in the morning session of Day 2 whilst the afternoon section concluded with patterns up to Sam IL.
The 62nd IIC concluded on Sunday 1st May with 4th-6th degree patterns followed by a lengthy self defence session with Grandmaster Ung of Germay. He explained his system of training from his military days in Vietnam. Grandmaster Ung and Tratenberg both explained the need to conduct self defence sessions in earnest and never in jest as they viewed the need to train hard as the next best thing to reality. The IIC finished with a photo opportunity with all four Grandmasters. Grandmaster Tratenberg made a particualar point of telling Mr Crosbie that he thoroughly enjoyed his time in Ireland at the recent IIC conducted in Tralee. He wished Master Wheatley and all ITA students well.Posted by ITA Admin
