ITF Anti-Doping Update
Following the recent appointment of Dr. Richard Aboud as Chairman of the ITF Anti-Doping Unit (click here for ITF news bulletin), two more ITA members have now been unanimously sanctioned as members of this committee, Mr. Adrian Byrne V Dan, and Ms. Sabina Mason III Dan.
1) Mr. Adrian Byrne V Dan, BSc Sport and Exercise Science,– to join the ITF Anti-Doping Unit to assist with the Education Component Globally.
Mr Byrne is a Coach Education Development Officer working with Coaching Ireland, a unit of the Irish Sports Council. He has responsibility for the development of coach education programmes for 9 National Governing Bodies of sport including all government recognised martial arts. He is a graduate of the University Of Limerick and holds a Bachelor of Science in Sport and Exercise Science. He also holds a 'Train the Trainer' qualification from Coaching Ireland and regularly delivers coach education courses and workshops.
Mr Byrne is currently Head Coach to the ITF Ireland National Team, and has been coaching at ITF international competitions since 2002.. Mr Byrne also has experience in Tournament planning and organisation having held the roles of Tournament Director, Umpire Chair and Tournament Administrator variously over the past 11 years.
2) Ms. Sabina Mason III Dan – to join the ITF Anti-Doping Unit to assist with legal and Enforcement.
Miss Mason is a Senior Specialist Intensive Care Nurse in active practice. She is an international ITF competitor and has been for many years. She has a specialty in Medical Law and will be preparing in due course for the Irish Bar Council Exams.Posted by Stephen Ryan
