Master Andresen Business & Technical Seminar Report
On Sunday 2nd March, the Irish Taekwon-Do Association welcomed Master Per Andresen VIII Degree from Norway to the City North Hotel in Dublin to conduct a business development & technical seminar. The event was organised by the ITA business development committee and Master Andresen was assisted by Mr Gunnar Alexander Rugsveen 3rd Dan, while Mr Paco Ferrando from Spain, President of FEST and member of the ITF Marketing & Development Committee and Ms Tiziana Mimmocchi Bos, member of FITAE Italy and wife of Grandmaster Bos, also travelled to Dublin for the seminar.
Master Andresen is the chief instructor of Trondheim Taekwon-Do club, a club with almost 1,500 members based in Norway, he is also the President of National Taekwon-Do Norway (NTN), the National Association of Norway and one of the largest and most progressive groups in the ITF with over 10,000 practicing members.
The day began with a three-hour business seminar attended by over 30 instructors from around the country, Master Andresen explained his instruction philosophy and the importance of encouraging happy & enthusiastic students before explaining the Norwegian requirements for grading. The Master also explained the structure of the NTN and its clubs, providing plenty of ideas for the ITA instructors in attendance
After a lunch break, Master Andresen, assisted by Mr Rugsveen, conducted a technical seminar, this was attended by a wide range of grades from colour belt to Master level and began with patterns from Chon Ji up to Ul-Ji. This was followed up by a number of dynamic kicking drills from the Norwegian grading syllabus, these drills were progressive, starting with easier drills for lower grades and progressing in difficulty for higher grades.
At the end of the seminar, ITA President, Master Wheatley presented Master Andresen with a special gift of a hand-crafted pen, made from 5,000 year old Irish Bog Oak, as well as a personalised ITA portfolio and a gold ITA Masters tie, Mr Rugsveen was also presented with an ITA Blackbelt tie. All the ITA instructors in attendance received the newly designed ITA tablecloth free of charge.
In a very generous gesture, Master Andresen donated his entire fee for the seminar to the ITF Africa Development Fund. Overall it was a very interesting & informative day that provided plenty of new ideas and insights for all instructors and students in attendance from both a business and technical point of view. Thank you must be paid to Master Andresen & Mr Rugsveen for making the trip to Ireland, we look forward to welcoming them back again in the future.
