In his capacity as chairman of the Irish Martial Arts Commission (IMAC), ITA President, Master Kenneth Wheatley met with the Minister of State for Tourism and Sport, Michael Ring TD, on Wednesday the 23rd of November at the Mansion House in Dublin ( Residence of the Lord Mayor of Dublin). The event was an official dinner for the presidents and officials from the competing countries at the Kick Boxing World Championships which were hosted by Kickboxing Ireland.
Master Wheatley's duty as Chair of the Irish Martial Arts Commission was to assist with the announcement of the re-launch of the Volunteer Ambassador Awards and to ask the Minister to present two awards, one to Mr Brendan Dowling (President of IMAC) for his outstanding contributions to the development of the IMAC and the expression of martial arts in Ireland. The other presentation was to Mr Roy Baker for his endeavours and contribution to keep Irish martial arts centre stage at home and Internationally and for his role as the WAKO anti doping officer. The Irish Martial Arts Commission recognises them as exemplary "Volunteer Ambassadors". The meeting also provided a good opportunity to discuss the development of Martial Arts in Ireland.
