The Coaching and Management team for the 2011 World Championships are pleased to inform you of the following arrangements for the training and selection of the National Squad to represent Ireland in New Zealand from 9th - 13th March 2011. Selection Process: Team and individual positions will be selected over three events using a combination of performance at training sessions and performance at a selection event on 27 November. Training sessions will provide all competitors with the opportunity to train with and learn from the coaching team. Selection sessions will generally be one day in duration and run from 12.30 - 6.30 on each of the days in order to maximise the opportunity to work with coaches and will rotate around Dublin, Cork and the MidWest in order to minimise travel time for competitors. Anybody considering trying out for the National Squad should be available on the following dates
Session one 30 October, Maynooth post primary school, Moyglare Road, Maynooth, Co Kildare.
Session two 13 November, Shannon Leisure Centre
Session three 20 November, Cork, exact venue tbc
The fee for all three selection events is €50 which is payable at the first squad session. This fee applies whether you attend one, two or three. We expect that if you are considering competing in New Zealand that you will attend all events. You are also required to bring a €250 deposit with you to the first session. Should you be selected, this deposit will be used towards the cost of the trip. If you are not selected, this deposit will be refunded.
For the first selection session, all competitors must bring the following:
€50 squad fee
ITF Degree Card (photocopies are not acceptable. If you do not have a copy of this card, please contact your National Secretary immediately)
Competitor Agreement signed by you, your Instructor and in the case of minors, your parent or guardian. You will not in any circumstances be permitted to train without a completed Competitor Agreement. Competitor agreements will be circulated next week and will be available online.
Details of any prescribed medicines that you are currently taking e.g. ventolin inhaler. As doping control will be taking place in New Zealand, it is mandatory that all competitors declare what medicines they are taking on a regular basis. Should you be selected, we will discuss doping control regulations with you in more detail.
If you have any questions about the process, please contact Mr. Kevin Hannigan, Director of Coaching
