Success at ITF World Championships

The Irish ITF team returned home from the ITF World Championships, Mar del Plata, Argentina on Wednesday December 2nd 2009 with a hugely impressive haul of 11 medals; 2 Gold, 3 Silver and 6 Bronze. The Team was led by The coaching and management team of; Stephen Cooley VI Dan (Coach), Paul Delea VI Dan (Coach), Niall Jones V Dan (Coach), Alan Troy V Dan (Coach), Adrian Byrne V Dan (Coach/Competitor) and Ken Leahy V Dan (Manager). The success of this campaign can be highlighted by the fact that the team medalled in all disciplines which is testement to the preparation which went in by the coach and management team and the competitors alike.

  • Gold; Luke Woods, Senior -63kg Sparring
  • Gold; Dylan Fitzgibbon, Junior -63kg Sparring 
  • Silver; Junior Male Team Power (Marlon Forde, Dylan Fitzgibbon, David Kilcoyne, David Lynch, Matthew Troy) 
  • Silver; Louise McCagh, Junior Female -55kg Sparring 
  • Silver; Louise McCagh, Junior Female Special Technique
  • Bronze; Senior Male Team Pattern (Stephen Ryan, Jamie Rigney, Adrian Byrne,  Daniel Dillon, Hong Keat Looi)
  • Bronze; Junior Female Team Pattern (Louise McCagh, Naomi Coonghe, Sarah Lehane, Megan O'Leary, Tara Murphy)
  • Bronze; Senior Male Team Sparring (Stephen Ryan, Luke Woods, Hong Keat Looi, Jamie Rigney, Jonathan Dargan, Stephen Smullen)
  • Bronze; Louise McCagh, Junior Female 2nd Dan Patterns
  • Bronze; Louise McCagh, Junior Female Power Breaking
