We are number 1 in the World of ITF Taekwon-Do

Looking back at the ITF World Championships, hosted by the Irish Taekwon-Do Association (ITA), in Citywest, Dublin in October 2017, described by many visiting countries as "the best ever ITF World Championships" we can proudly say that we achieved our dream of becoming number one country in the World of ITF Taekwon-Do. Ireland placed 1st out of 50 countries with 1,100 elite black belt athletes competing. Our medal tally was an impressive 10 Gold, 8 Silver and 10 Bronze medals. We would like to pay special tribute to our coaching team and managers and of course to the superb organising committee of Master Mark Buckley, Mr Stephen Ryan, Mr Adrian Byrne and Master Roy Baker and their team of excellent officers and volunteers who worked tirelessly. We would like to thank the ITA board as well as the board of ITF, visiting countries, VIPs, Grandmasters, Masters, Umpires, committees, volunteers, families, supporters and athletes for their support. A big thank you to our Flagship Sponsor Failte Ireland, without whom we could not have put on such a spectacular event and our team Sponsor Top Ten & Peter Krukenhauser and to the Citywest Hotel & Conference Centre management and staff for your professionalism and hospitality. This event is now part of our legacy and we are truly proud of what we achieved on and off the mats, our athletes were simply amazing and it was wonderful to see all their hard work come to fruition, for those crowned world champions and those that medalled it was truly a special moment to see them on the podium on home soil, supported by familiy and friends.
