IRISH NATIONAL GOVERNING BODY
The Irish Taekwon-Do Association is the NGB for Taekwon-Do in Ireland and currently comprises almost 100 schools and thousands of participants across the country, these number that has been steadily growing in recent years as the popularity of Taekwon-Do as a physical activity and sport for all age’s increases. In our schools we teach children as young as five years old, through teenagers and adults of all ages. Athletes on the national team come through this club system and are selected based on their performances at national and international tournaments. These athletes train 6 to 7 days per week, often with 2 sessions per day in the months running up to a major event. Over the past 10 years, Ireland has seen unprecedented international success claiming 10 individual senior world titles, many European titles, world & European medals and junior & team titles. Ireland also ranked as the number one country in the world for ITF Taekwon-Do at the 2017 World Championships.
NATIONAL TOURNAMENTS
On a national level, Taekwon-Do in Ireland is flourishing and the talent that we are producing is phenomenal. The ITA runs three national tournaments per year in Dublin, Limerick and Waterford. These tournaments attract approximately 2700 entries per year as well as many thousands of spectators. Our tournaments have had to move to the largest indoor arenas in the country as we out grew our old venues due to the increasing popularity of Taekwon-Do.
YOUR SUPPORT
Even though the ITA is recognised as the NGB for Taekwon-Do we do not receive any direct funding for our sport. The results we have achieved by relying on local fundraising and volunteers have been amazing. We feel that if we can gain the support of a sponsor it will serve to further improve our success, raise our profile and increase the chances of the national team to achieve even greater success. This in turn will inspire the many thousands of children training in Taekwon-Do at grass roots level in their clubs across Ireland to emulate the success of these athletes and achieve their own future goals. Partnership with the Irish Taekwon-Do Association would be very beneficial for a brand or company, offering a unique opportunity to promote yourself around Ireland alongside a dynamic growing sport and martial art.
We would be delighted to have the opportunity to meet with you in person or arrange for you to come and see to one of our tournaments or national squad training session to get a real sense of what Taekwon-Do is, how it benefits people of all ages and walks of life and enables people to achieve their goals, improve their physical and mental condition and develop holistically.
