Special Technique Coaching CPD
As part of our expanding offering of Coach education and support we will be delivering a Special Technique coaching CPD (continuous professional development) clinic on Saturday 8th February. This will be open to all adult black belts who are currently coaching, assisting or helping to teach in an ITA club. Each coach is encouraged to bring 1/2 athletes with good jumping ability and ideally some experience of the competition elements of special technique. They should be blue belt or higher and will take an active part in all exercises and demonstrations. This should be a fantastic learning opportunity for both coaches and students.
Coaches will learn to enhance the performance of the 5 competition techniques through the use of plyometric exercises, technical progression and regression and video analysis. They will be tasked with choosing the correct technical variation and progression for their athletes, basing their choices on; a deterministic model, the physical characteristics of their athletes and their stage of development. They will learn to identify and prioritise areas for improvement based on observation and data.
Coaching Qualifications
This Coaching Continuous Professional Development opportunity is a standalone unit that any coach or interested person can undertake. It is also a micro credential earning credits towards the new Level 2 Senior Club Coach award being developed through IMAC and Sport Ireland. Expect to see further opportunities in other specialist areas announced in the coming months.
