ITA Tournaments

The ITA runs three national tournaments per year in Dublin, Limerick and Munster which attract almost 3,000 entries in total.

The ITA has invested heavily to ensure the highest quality tournaments for competitors, coaches, umpires and spectators. 

ITA tournaments take place in the largest, most modern arenas in the country with state-of-the art facilities.

As the national association for ITF Taekwon-Do in Ireland and as a member of IMAC, the ITA National Championships are considered the premier Taekwon-Do title for Irish competitors.

ITA tournament also attract a lot of international entries with competitors from Scotland, England, Austria, Norway, Sweden, the Netherlands, Albania and Canada attending our tournaments over the past few years. 



Children’s Tournament

As well as our adult and elite level competitions, the ITA is proud to run the largest children’s tournament in Ireland. Experienced umpires monitor contact levels and apply the rules as appropriate to children of the various age groups to ensure everyone can have a position experience. As a reward for showing the bravery to step on to the mat and compete, all under 10’s who compete in ITA tournaments are awarded with a participation medal.

ITA TOURNAMENT OVERVIEW

  • Large, modern arenas: 

    • National Indoor Arena, Dublin

    • UL Arena, Limerick

    • WIT Arena, Waterford

  • Approximately 2800 entries annually

  • Fully matted areas

  • Experienced umpires, all with a minimum grade of 1st degree blackbelt

  • ‘Double-elimination’ repechage sections for blackbelts, meaning competitors get more time on the mats.

  • Development sections for younger blackbelts, allowing them build experience before entering the more competitive sections

  • Competition in Patterns, Sparring, Special Technique & Power-Breaking

  • Sections for senior colour belts and veteran colourbelt & blackbelts

  • Electronic scoring with livescore displays across all rings as in major ITF championships such as the World and European championships

  • High-quality deluxe medals for category winners and runners up

  • Participation medals for competitors aged 10 and younger.

  • Good quality lunch provided free-of-charge to umpires
