Train the Trainer Inclusive Style - Report by Ms Helen Goodson Finglas

Course Overview

I recently completed a four-day Train the Trainer Inclusive Style course led by Eric Bortels, Chairman of ICP. This intensive program was based on the ICP methodology, Inclusive Colour Picture, which is designed to ensure accessibility and inclusivity for all participants, regardless of their abilities or disabilities.

The course emphasized creating a truly inclusive training environment that accommodates individuals with diverse needs, ensuring that no disability is left uncatered for

Learning Experience

Throughout the four days, we explored various techniques and strategies to deliver training that is accessible to everyone. We learned how to adapt our methods, materials, and communication styles to ensure full participation and engagement. Practical exercises helped reinforce these concepts, and we were encouraged to think creatively about how to remove barriers to learning.

Final Assessment

On the final day, we were put to the test. With just 10 minutes’ notice, I was given three tasks to complete using everything I had learned throughout the course. This required quick thinking, adaptability, and confidence in my newly acquired skills.

I gathered my materials and tools, applied the inclusive methodologies, and executed each task to the best of my ability. Thankfully, my preparation and understanding paid off, and I successfully completed the challenge.

Achievement

As a result of my performance, I earned my certificate for Train the Trainer Inclusive Style. This certification represents not only my ability to train others inclusively but also my commitment to fostering accessible learning environments for all.

Conclusion

This course was a transformative experience, reinforcing the importance of inclusivity in training and education. The ICP methodology provides a structured yet flexible approach to ensuring that every individual, regardless of ability, can participate fully and meaningfully. I am excited to apply these principles in my future training sessions, ensuring that no one is excluded from learning and growth opportunities.
