The workshop will teach mental skills that you can work on at home which could help to improve your performance when you return to full training and competition. From this workshop you will learn strategies for building your confidence, setting goals, coping with nerves and bouncing back after setbacks. Given our circumstances, we will also look at some psychology skills that you can use to help you cope during the uncertain and stressful times we are facing during the Covid pandemic

Jessie Barr Bio

Jessie is an accredited Sport & Performance Psychologist, Olympian, and PhD researcher. Jessie currently works at Sport Ireland Institute with aspiring Olympic and elite across cycling, swimming, diving, athletics, gymnastics and sailing. She applies both her professional and personal experience to support them in achieving their peak performance. Jessie acted as lead Psychologist for Team Ireland for the European Games and the European Youth Olympic Festival, both in 2019.

She is undertaking her PhD in sport psychology in the Physical Education and Sport Sciences (PESS) Department at the University of Limerick. Her research is focused on athlete mental health.

A former international athlete in the 400m hurdles, she represented Ireland at the 2012 Olympic Games competing in the 4x400m relay, and made the finals at European Championships and at the World University Games in the 400m Hurdles.
